Office Manager
Chris Anderson serves a Office Manager and is responsible for managing day-to-day office operations and assists with a variety of Human Resources-related activities. Anderson's administrative services duties include maintenance of the physical office space, managing off-site storage, and mail room management. His HR role includes managing new hire onboarding, coordinating payroll, organizing office-wide events, and assisting with benefits administration.

Belayhun helps ensure all financial accounting functions are completed accurately, prepares interim financial reports, and manages periodic compliance reporting and budget preparation.

Toby Beckelman
Senior Policy Associate
Toby Beckelman (she/her/hers) advocates for policies that reduce food insecurity, create healthier and more accessible food environments, and strengthen the public health impacts of the U.S. food safety net, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the charitable food system.

Engagement Associate
Isaiah Blake (he/him) is CSPI's Engagement Associate and manages relationships with community partners in the Midwest and New York State.
Debra Brink
Graphic Designer and Production Manager
Debra designs and manages the printing and mailing of CSPI's marketing and small dollar donor program. She also designs the outer wraps that go around Nutrition Action and assists staff with other design projects.

Capacity Building and Engagement Associate
Asia Carter (she/her/hers) maintains and builds relationships with CSPI's partners regionally located in the Western part of the U.S. She leads capacity-building and power building opportunities to support and empower the work of community-based organizations while centering the leadership of those most impacted by health inequities.

Grace Chamberlin (she/her/hers) is a Policy Associate focused on Federal Food Procurement and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). She collaborates with the Federal Good Food Purchasing Coalition and other partners to strengthen the DGA and advocate for federal agencies to purchase and serve more healthy and sustainable food.

Catherine Cochran (she/her/hers) supports CSPI’s Child Nutrition Programs initiatives, focusing on state and local school food policies. She advocates for science-based policies to ensure every child has access to healthy, delicious foods.

Adrienne (she/her) is the primary writer and editor at CSPI, tasked with building the newsroom that connects CSPI's advocacy, programming, and policy work to NutritionAction's deep archives of food and health research for readers.

Jeff Cronin is Director of Communications for CSPI. He is responsible for maintaining CSPI's high profile in the news media, for its web site, and for publicizing the group's reports, studies, and Nutrition Action Healthletter.

Meghan Enslow (she/her) is a Policy Associate on the Regulatory Affairs team and advocates for stronger food safety policies addressing unsafe food chemicals, fraudulent and dangerous dietary supplements, and foodborne pathogens.
Maureen Finneran, MSW
Program Manager
Maureen Finneran is a Program Manager at CSPI. She provides oversight for CSPI's grant-funded activities, including subgrants, focused on national, state, and local campaigns to reduce the impact and burden of preventable diseases and to promote a more equitable food system. Maureen has both a Masters and Bachelors in Social Work with a specific focus on systems and policy. Prior to joining CSPI, Maureen worked for the Arcora Foundation where she led community-based networked approaches to reducing oral health disparities and advancing health equity in Washington state. She also worked as a Program Manager for the American Academy of Pediatrics national office where she led community-based initiatives. When Maureen is not working, she can usually be found outside or in the kitchen. Running, biking, hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing, reading, cooking new recipes, and attempting to grow vegetables are some of her favorite activities.

Legal Affairs Attorney
Emily Friedman is Legal Affairs Attorney at Center for Science in the Public Interest, where she researches legal issues, develops legislative and other materials supporting advocacy efforts, and provides technical support to policymakers and advocates working on national, state, and local food and nutrition policies.

Principal Scientist for Food Additives and Supplements
Thomas Galligan (he/him/his), as CSPI’s Principal Scientist for Food Additives and Supplements, is working to improve regulation of food chemicals and dietary supplements and get unsafe chemicals and ineffective supplements out of our food supply.
Karen Gardner
Senior Policy Associate
Karen is a senior policy associate at CSPI. She leads advocacy for state and local policies that improve healthy food access through the food retail environment. She has a MA in food studies from New York University and a BA in economics from Bard College. Prior to joining CSPI, Karen served as the Pennsylvania Manager for the National Young Farmers Coalition, leading the Coalition’s organizing and advocacy work in Pennsylvania. She also worked as a food policy research analyst for NYU and as a community wellness advocate for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana. She is raising two daughters in Pittsburgh, grows vegetables in good years, and loves all outdoor adventures, especially rock climbing.

Cassie Harrison-Ramos (she/her/hers) work focuses on SNAP policy and healthy food access for families with low incomes. She works with partners and community-based groups to engage with SNAP participants about strategies for maximizing nutrition security.

Oscar Heanue (he/him/his) is an attorney working in CSPI's litigation department, where he works on the organization's class actions, administrative lawsuits, and negotiations.
Ashley Hickson, DrPH, MPH
Director of Health Equity and Social Impact
Dr. Ashley Hickson (she/her/hers) leads our organizational efforts in the areas of equity, justice, and social impact. She has over 13 years of diverse public health experience ranging from social worker to health informatician. Prior to joining CSPI, Ashley served as Director of Community Impact at the American Heart Association where she oversaw her market's food insecurity strategy through community-level policy, systems, and environmental change approaches. She holds an MPH from the University of Texas Health Science Center and dual degrees (BBA/BS) from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned a Doctorate of Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity and Social Justice from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a Bloomberg American Health Initiative Food Systems for Health Fellow, 2021 de Beaumont Foundation 40 under 40 in Public Health Honoree, and a member of several local and national public health boards, workgroups, and steering committees. In her free time she prioritizes activities that bring her joy, such as loving on her twin daughters. She is remote with a home office in Fort Worth, TX.

Alla Hill (she/her) is a Science Policy Associate within the Science Department. In this role, she works closely with program teams to review and develop evidence-based materials and messages to inform strategy across five primary areas: Healthy Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Health Disclosures, Healthy Retail, Restaurant Kids Meals, and School Foods.

Anupama Joshi (she/her/hers) leads CSPI’s program strategy on national, state, and local policy advocacy; legislative campaigns; and regulatory affairs to support equitable access to healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. She oversees projects on a wide range of issue areas such as school nutrition, healthy food access, food retail, food service guidelines, pouring rights, labeling, corporate engagement, food safety, additives, dietary supplements, and agricultural biotechnology.

Philip Kahn-Pauli

Philip Kahn-Pauli (he, him, his) is CSPI's Director of Legislative Affairs. He serves as CSPI’s lead lobbyist and develops strategic policy objectives. He also leads and oversees legislative, advocacy, and outreach activities to achieve CSPI’s federal campaign goals on a variety of issues.
Amelia Keleher
Policy Associate
Amelia (she/her) is passionate about the intersections of food, cultural foodways, and social justice. As a Policy Associate at CSPI, she works to advance healthy, values-aligned food purchasing and food service standards and policies at the state, local, and institutional level to support a more sustainable, equitable food system and promote healthier communities.
Prior to joining CSPI, Amelia served as a project coordinator for the Halal School Meals Network in Portland, ME, and as the food and health equity program coordinator for the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA). Amelia is a co-author on the peer reviewed journal article, "Incorporating Halal Into Healthy and Equitable Dietary Patterns to Address Food and Nutrition Security Among K-12 and University Students: A Perspective." She has also completed a research and writing fellowship with Food Tank and worked as a food and agriculture account team member for Ketchum PR + Marketing Communications Consulting. Amelia holds a BA in American Studies and Anthropology from Bates College. In her free time, she can be found ocean dipping off the coast of Maine, playing tennis, and songwriting/playing music with friends.

Marlena Koch (she/her) works with the Nutrition Action team compiling information, verifying facts about Nutrition Labels, ingredients, and food labeling claims. She also takes photographs of products and meals featured in Nutrition Action articles.
Katie Hae Leo, MFA
Development Officer
Katie Hae Leo (she/her) works with donors on the East Coast and Southern U.S. She brings over a decade of experience in nonprofits, including leading development work at Springboard for the Arts, ACLU of SC, and Chrysalis in Arizona. A former actor and published writer, Katie holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota, and a BA in English from DePauw University.
Bonnie Liebman, MS
Director of Nutrition
Bonnie Liebman (she/her) has been the key link in formulating CSPI's policies on diet and health. She provides the scientific input on many of the organization's administrative petitions and legislative proposals. Bonnie is the author of numerous articles on diet and cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, memory loss, and other illnesses for Nutrition Action, which has roughly 400,000 readers nationwide. She served on the advisory committees that issued the American Cancer Society's 2001 and 1996 Guidelines on Nutrition and Physical Activity for Cancer Prevention.

Lisa Mankofsky, Esq.
Director of Litigation
Lisa Mankofsky (she/her/hers) leads CSPI’s class action litigation, administrative lawsuits, and negotiations. CSPI’s class action litigation challenges deceptive advertising and labeling practices concerning food and supplements. In order to protect the health and safety of consumers, we also litigate under the Administrative Procedure Act against governmental agencies where the agency has unlawfully withheld or unreasonably delayed agency action; and/or where the agency acted in an arbitrary and capricious way, abused its discretion, and/or acted unlawfully. The Litigation Department also engages in negotiations with food and dietary supplement manufacturers seeking agreements to correct deceptive advertising and labeling practices.

Kirby Page
Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Kirby Page is the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for CSPI. She is responsible for developing and implementing CSPI's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy and programming. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Boston University. Her prior experience includes serving as the DEI Manager for Partners In Health, consulting with Studio ATAO and Universities Allied for Essential Medicine, and being the Diversity Coordinator for Boston University Admissions. In her free time, she enjoys going on long, aimless walks and returning with a pastry or tea, and riding the ill-fated D.C. Circulator. Kirby joined CSPI in September 2022.

Ronda Parks serves as Accounting Associate and has been with CSPI since 2000. Her primary responsibilities are assisting the Finance Director with operations, coordinating the audit process, and managing invoices and payments.
Olivia Peña, MS
Engagement and Capacity Building Manager
Olivia Peña (she/her) leads CSPI's Engagement and Capacity Building Team, which builds and maintains partnerships across the organization's issue areas, and supports the organization's grantmaking portfolio of advocacy partners. The Engagement Team's work centers on building the power and capacity of local and state community partners who are working to equitably advance food and health initiatives through organizing and policy advocacy.
Before joining CSPI, Olivia worked at the Building Movement Project where she supported the development of a race equity assessment for nonprofits, managed cohorts of nonprofit leaders and staff, and explored social change initiatives through direct service provision. Building on her passions of food and community power, Olivia founded a food and agriculture-focused network for communities of color. Her research and writing has been featured in publications such as Science of the Total Environment and the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development. Olivia earned both a BS and an MS from the University of Vermont in Food Systems, and was named a 2017 National Scholar by the James Beard Foundation. Outside of CSPI, Olivia enjoys reading, horseback riding, long distance running, and tending to her collection of houseplants.
Niamh Rahman
Senior Digital Campaigns Associate
Niamh (she/her) leads and implements CSPI’s email advocacy strategy and develop, code, and deploy day-to-day operations of our email advocacy program. She also implements and optimizes our broadcast SMS program and serve as the main liaison with the Engagement Team on mass emails promoting their work and helps integrate a stronger email portfolio across the Healthy Tips/NA email verticals.
Sara Ribakove, MBA
Campaign Manager, Food and Environment
Sara Ribakove's (she/her) work is focused on creating a more sustainable, healthier, and equitable food system. Sara oversees CSPI’s Food and Environment initiative focused on policy and advocacy efforts that support sustainable food production and consumption patterns. She also oversees CSPI's work on improving the nutritional quality of food for children in restaurants.
Prior to joining CSPI, Sara worked for the Food Recovery Network, a non-profit working to reduce hunger and food waste. She received her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Georgetown University, focused on environmentally sustainable business practices and non-market strategy. She earned her B.A. in Public Health from the University of Rochester.
Parker Sams
Senior Social Media Associate
Parker (he/him) leadings and implements CSPI’s social media strategy and management of daily operations of CSPI’s social media channels, including identifying and promoting engaging content from Program teams, grantees, and coalition partners. In addition, he serves as lead for the video workgroup to brainstorm video content ideas, write scripts, and train colleagues on video best practices, and assists with digital asset management.
Tom Schloegel
Development Officer
Tom Schloegel is an Individual Gifts Officer for CSPI. Tom brings significant and diverse fundraising experience to the Development team at CSPI, managing our Partners for Nutrition Action (supporters who contribute more than $1,000) and Benefactors (those who have having made a bequest to the organization). He previously served in development roles with the International Rescue Committee, Physicians for Human Rights, The Nation, and Barnard College, among others.
Tom earned a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University. He and his wife tend a large garden and small orchard in upstate New York, bringing a hands-on awareness to those aspects of our mission that help more people have access to similarly nutritious, safe, and delicious food. Tom join CSPI in 2023.

Jessi Silverman, MSPH, RD
Campaign Manager
Jessi (she/her) is a Campaign Manager for institutional food purchasing and service at CSPI. In this role, she leads advocacy campaigns at the federal, state, and local level to ensure that public institutions like prisons, hospitals, and other government facilities serve nutritious food that is sourced sustainably and equitably. She also oversees CSPI's advocacy to strengthen the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the federal government's nutrition advice that is updated every five years.

Sarah Sorscher, JD, MPH
Director of Regulatory Affairs
Sarah Sorscher is an experienced advocate with a passion for public health who fights for a safer, healthier, more transparent food system by promoting consumer safeguards with Congress, federal agencies, and state and local governments. As Director of Regulatory Affairs, she manages CSPI's policy work related to food safety and labeling, allergens, food additives, dietary supplements, and other consumer products. Her work includes serving on federal advisory committees, testifying before Congress and federal agencies, offering technical advice to policymakers, and providing commentary to the media on consumer and food safety issues.

As a member of the Food Additives team in the Science Department, Jannah Tauheed (she/her/hers) investigates and evaluates the safety of food additives and other chemicals present in food.

As senior policy scientist for CSPI’s regulatory transparency and accountability initiative, Irene Ulrich (she/her) develops and leads advocacy campaigns related to federal agency transparency, conflict-of-interest disclosures in research and policymaking, corporate and government accountability, drug and medical device regulation, and more.

Clay is a policy associate at CSPI, advocating for better rules and practices around companies marketing food to kids. He has a law degree from NYU School of Law, and has practiced in California, Washington, and Alaska.

Bethany D. Williams, PhD, MSH, EP-C
Southern Engagement Associate
Bethany (she/her/hers) manages CSPI’s relationships with state and local partners in the Southern region, providing guidance around equitable community engagement in food policy work and organizational power building. In addition to her role with CSPI’s partner network, including current and potential subgrantees, Bethany leads the Engagement Team’s efforts in internal capacity building to guide CSPI practices in community engagement across research, policy, advocacy, and cross-cutting issue areas. Through her work, Bethany contributes to CSPI’s missions of inclusivity, openness, accountability, kindness, and collaboration, with a strong skillset and passion to center the voices of those most impacted by food system inequities.
Monica Wilson

In Monica’s role, she helps ensure all financial accounting functions are completed accurately, prepare interim financial reports, and manage periodic compliance reporting. She is responsible for many aspects of general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations and budget preparation, and assuring compliance with GAAP.

Isabella Xu (she/her/hers) is a Policy Associate in the Science Department. She works on advocacy campaigns related to federal agency transparency, conflict-of-interest disclosures in research and policymaking, corporate and government accountability, and drug and medical device regulation.
Mary Bassett
Mary Bassett, MD, MPH, is an associate professor of clinical epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She is also director of the François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) Center for Health and Human Rights and FXB Professor of the Practice of Health and Human Rights at Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
