Toby Beckelman (she/her/hers) advocates for policies that reduce food insecurity, create healthier and more accessible food environments, and strengthen the public health impacts of the U.S. food safety net, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the charitable food system.

Prior experience

Prior to joining CSPI, Toby worked for the Hawaii State Department of Health, leading nutrition policies, programs and strategic planning efforts. Before that, she worked at Mathematica, overseeing research on school meals. Toby earned her MS in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition and MPH from Tufts University, and her BS in Psychology from Union College.
