Asia Carter (she/her/hers) maintains and builds relationships with CSPI's partners regionally located in the Western part of the U.S. She leads capacity-building and power building opportunities to support and empower the work of community-based organizations while centering the leadership of those most impacted by health inequities. 

Prior experience

Prior to joining CSPI, Asia has been in a variety of roles focused on centering health equity and community engagement through organizing, advocacy, and research. Asia worked as a Regional Organizer with Planned Parenthood advocating for equitable access to reproductive healthcare in North and South Carolina. She has served as a Campaign Organizer mobilizing volunteers and educating communities on pertinent election information. Asia earned a B.S. in Health Systems Management from UNC Charlotte and a Master of Public Health degree from UNC Chapel Hill.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

It's inspiring to work on such a collaborative team full of individuals that are committed towards an equitable and just food system. I'm excited to work alongside community organizations to build power and advance health equity!
