Statement of CSPI Senior Nutritionist Lindsay Moyer, RD

Bravo to Kind Snacks for disclosing the added sugars in all of the company’s products on its website. A major improvement in the forthcoming new Nutrition Facts labels is a line for added sugars, which will allow consumers to distinguish the added sugars like high-fructose corn syrup and table sugar from the naturally occurring sugars in fruit and milk.

By publishing added sugars on its website today, Kind Snacks is giving consumers valuable information well before the Food and Drug Administration’s mid-2018 deadline. We hope that other food companies will follow Kind’s lead and similarly begin disclosing added sugars on their websites—and eventually their new labels—as soon as possible.
