Safe food coalition letter to FSIS re: Line speed waivers

Staggering Numbers of Covid-19 Cases in Meat Packers Point to Need for Improved Worker Protections, Paid Sick Leave

The Safe Food Coalition, of which CSPI is part, sent this letter to USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service regarding line speed waivers, which permit exceptions to limits on processing rates in meat and poultry establishments. The Coalition requests that the agency adopt a moratorium on new line speed waivers to ensure that such establishments are adequately mitigating COVID-19 infection risk.
