The relationship between sodium and high blood pressure is supported by a high-quality body of evidence. However, the detrimental health effects of sodium have been questioned after some studies found limited or even protective relationships between sodium and CVD outomes. It is important to consider these recent findings and their limitations. To address these concerns, a group of experts critically reviewed the methodology in 26 cohort studies that relate sodium intake to cardiovascular disease outcomes.
