Cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing is “Food Porn,” says CSPI

Mrs. Fields’ new Cinnamon Roll with Cream Cheese Icing has been named Food Porn of the Month by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest’s Nutrition Action Healthletter. Bulging out of its burger-sized box with more than one thousand calories, 18 teaspoons of sugar, and 48 grams of fat—including one-and-a-half day’s worth of the artery-clogging saturated kind— this “snack” outweighs even the notoriously fattening half-pound Cinnabon. In fact, says CSPI, one could eat four Dunkin Donuts’ Glazed Donuts and still fall 170 calories short of Mrs. Fields’ latest invention.

“A few of these rolls from Mrs. Fields and you’d be well on your way to your own roll around your midsection,” said CSPI senior nutritionist Jayne Hurley. “Mrs. Fields’ cookies are among the most artery-clogging snacks you can get at the mall food court, but you could have three of Mrs Fields’ Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies and suffer less arterial damage. Putting cream cheese icing on a huge cinnamon roll is adding insult to injury.”

Food Porn is a regular feature on the back page of Nutrition Action Healthletter. Other recent Food Porns include Pizza Hut’s P’Zone, “the pizza you eat like a sandwich,” and Dairy Queen’s Brownie Earthquake.
