Trump Administration deregulatory blitz: the last gasp of a failing agenda
Statement of CSPI president Dr. Peter G. Lurie
Under the best of circumstances, the closing days of a one-term failed presidency would not be the time to undertake a massive deregulatory blitz affecting everything from drugs and medical devices to genetically engineered animals. That the country is reeling from the President’s attack on the Capitol and his subsequent impeachment makes it a worse time still.
We are confident that the Biden-Harris administration will expeditiously act to reverse these last-gasp anti-regulatory efforts of the Trump administration, and to restore the role of science and scientists in key decision-making roles at the Food and Drug Administration, the rest of the Department of Health and Human Services, and throughout the federal government.
