Introducing Pear in Mind: A blog in the public interest
Welcome to Pear in Mind, CSPI’s newest organization-wide blog.
You may know CSPI as America's food and health watchdog, or as the publisher of Nutrition Action Healthletter, which provides unbiased advice to help you eat healthfully.
However, you may not know that CSPI is home to an evidence hub for COVID-19 vaccines, treatments, and tests. You may not know that we run an Agricultural Biotechnology Project to address scientific concerns, government policies, and corporate practices related to genetically engineered (GE) plants and animals in our food and environment. You may not know that CSPI partners with over 30 organizations nationwide to support local, state, and national movements to (1) champion healthy SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); (2) ensure accurate and honest food labeling; (3) improve the nutritional content of and access to school meals; (4) increase healthy kids’ meals options in restaurants; (5) create healthy retail food environments; and much more.
Pear in Mind will cover the breadth of CSPI’s work and the work of our partners. It will introduce new research, campaigns, changemakers, and ideas to “pear in mind” in our journey to reduce the impact and burden of preventable diseases and create an equitable food system that makes healthy, sustainable food accessible to all.
One of CSPI’s greatest strengths is its community of advocates who take action on issues that matter, and Pear in Mind will be another place to inform, mobilize, and convene this community.
We are very excited to share more in the coming weeks and months. Check out our first Pear in Mind blog post here for an overview of our recent fertility supplements victory.
