CSPI Comments on the FDA Nutrition Innovation Strategy

The Center for Science in the Public Interest submitted comments to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the agency’s Comprehensive, Multi-Year Nutrition Innovation Strategy. That draft strategy provides a critical opportunity to create greater transparency for consumers in the service of public health and to foster innovation that could drive reformulation and towards healthier foods.

In the comments, we encourage the agency to use its labeling and regulatory authorities to encourage the development of more healthful grain-containing foods and to prevent marketing claims that enable unhealthy foods to unfairly compete with fruits and vegetables.
