“House Freedom Caucus” issues regulatory kill list targeting school meals, organics, & food safety

The document issued by the so-called Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives, once considered a fringe group, offers a shocking peek behind the curtain at the anti-science, anti-progress, and anti-health ideology that now has newfound legitimacy in the new Congress and Administration.  It’s basically a regulatory kill list that targets sensible updates to Nutrition Facts labels, healthier foods served in schools, and the entire National Organic Program. 

Even regulations aimed at protecting the safety of the food supply from an intentional terrorist attack have been put on the chopping block by this group of extremists (who acknowledge that the regulations help “protect against wide-scale harm to public health, including acts of terrorism targeting the food supply”).

The kill list exposed today shows that dozens of Members of Congress and Big Food are determined to take full advantage of the Trump Administration for ideological and commercial purposes.
