    You couldn’t design better living accommodations for bacteria than the porous pits of a soft, damp sponge. Ideally, you’d clean your sponges every day by sticking them in the dishwasher, popping them (rinsed and wrung out) into the microwave for 60 seconds on a saucer, or boiling them. But once a week is probably enough.  back
