James leads CSPI campaigns whose goals are to minimize threats to public health from food safety issues and animals in the food system.

Prior experience

James's work prior to joining CSPI spanned the spectrum of the food production system and included production animal medicine as a dairy veterinarian, international agriculture development, and infectious disease research and response system analysis. He earned a BS in Animal Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. He also completed a residency in public health at the University of Minnesota.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

"I enjoy having the opportunity to work with so many different stakeholders including industry, consumers, scientists, and regulators and attempt to bring about consensus on issues so that action is taken to improve public health."
