Food, Poverty and Kids
 78% of respondents to a recent national survey say they are
concerned about the issue of hunger. 60% say that the federal government should take
responsibility. More than 726,900 people used a food bank in March 2000. Thats more than
double the 1989 total. 40% of these people were under the age of 18. Experts agree that good
nutrition improves performance in school and is much more cost effective than medical treatment
