Why Menu Labeling?

Without nutrition information at restaurants, District residents are left in the dark. Few people would guess that a small shake at McDonald’s has more calories than a Big Mac or that a vanilla Frappuccino® has twice the fat of a vanilla cappuccino.

Sign the PetitionThe DC Menu Labeling bill would require fast-food and other chain restaurants in the District of Columbia with 10 or more locations nationwide to list the calorie, saturated and trans fat, carbohydrate and sodium contents of standard items on their menus.

The thousands of residents who watch what they eat to manage medical conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes need menu labeling to follow their doctor’s advice.

All District residents deserve the chance to make informed choices.
